And I certainly wasn't complaining - I hadn't been for a country walk in ages, and it is just so lovely to be able to get out of the city and properly away from it all! I also had a new jacket that I was testing out - though the full review is to follow when I've actually had a rainy day to wear it on! (Though it proved its worth as a windproof and kept me at just the right temperature all day. No mean feat given that it was sunny and warm at times, but there was still ice and snow on the ground in places!)
The walk itself was great. Not too long or too taxing - it took about 4 hours I think, all in all - but it was still hard enough to feel like I'd done some exercise and there were some interesting sights and amazing views to be seen.
What follows is mostly a photo blog - they say a picture is worth a thousand words - but I've added some commentary along the way....
From the quarry, it was only another 15/20 minutes to the summit of Moel Fferna.
