HOWEVER, I woke up on Sunday to find it snowing much more heavily, and the above was the result! Snow everywhere! Admittedly not as much as elsewhere in Britain, but it still looked pretty amazing.
So this post is mainly photos, because I wanted to showcase how London looks in the snow. It doesn't happen that often after all!
In the end, I made a detour via Covent Garden and got myself some Yaktrax (the pro versions). I'm glad I did, as they made a really big difference. The rest of the walk home was easy and I felt confident walking at normal pace.
The next day the ice had got worse, but the Yaktrax did their job and I was on my way easily enough. I'm glad I've got them now for any similar incidents in the future.
Perhaps not surprisingly though, the snow disappeared relatively quickly from central London. By Wednesday we were pretty much back to normal on all the footpaths and pavements, and despite snow being forecast for last night, I looked out of the window this morning to greet blue skies and damp, but not snowy, pavements.
Looks like things are getting back to normal (here at least).....
